VANDALS have targeted a glass fronted community notice board with air gun pellets.

The display case, at Ffrith Common Land Park in Prestatyn, appears to have been used for target practice by offenders. A heavy object was also used in an attempt to break the laminated glass.

Only days ago the glass had been replaced by members of Friends of the Ffrith Common Land Park. This cost £120.

Offenders smashed it up just six days later.

Tracy Pierce, committee member of Friends of the Ffrith Common Land Park who volunteers alongside Sandra Pitt, chairperson, and Malcolm Wilkinson, secretary, said: "It is so annoying when we work hard to make the area nice for everyone. Members work on site every Tuesday morning for two hours to garden, plant, prune, litter pick and plan works, as well as our monthly meeting and works behind the scenes.

"A lady witnessed youths on bikes disrespecting the area. This information has been passed on the police.

"It will be replaced again from group funds.

"The metal gate of the multi use games area had also be wrenched off it's hinges.

"This is so sad when we strive to make the area pleasant for everybody.

Despite being disheartened, members plan to continue with their efforts and are working towards their first ever Summer Fayre and Family fun day on Saturday, August 17.

Community PCSOs will be attending. There will be stalls and demonstrations, games, tombolas. raffles and tug of war.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "We received a report about the damage on April 24 and May 5. This is the second incident in three weeks."

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101.
