CONCERNS have been raised over 'dangerous' parking in a Flintshire town.

Julie Dutton, of Connah's Quay, has told the Leader that someone is going to get seriously hurt one day due to inconsiderate parking on her street.

Motorists are parking on both sides of the pavement on Lower Brook Street, leaving local residents 'frustrated'.

Julie said: "It's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. Cars are everywhere.

"You have to try and stretch over the top of the cars just to see if anything is coming, it's really bad.

"It's dangerous, someone will get seriously hurt.

"There's people from other places parking on our street, people who work in shops nearby and residents from other streets. People are even parking way past the give way sign.

"Parking beyond the give way sign is ridiculous, they need to read the highway code again - these are people who don't even live in the street."

Julie has lived in the area for over 20 years and she said parking has been an issue for some time.

There are currently several pensioners bungalows on the street and Julie said it is also a danger to them.

She added: "Yellow lines have been painted in other streets, but for some reason we have been missed out.

"We have carers and visitors who come to visit the elderly and they have nowhere to park, then emergency services, where are they going to park?

"There's a grass verge on the street that could be turned into parking spaces and that's currently not used at all, apart from the odd time when the street is overflowing.

"It's overload on one little street and you can't park outside your own home. We have to park down the street and carry our shopping, it's quite frustrating.

"We have to walk on the road because of people double parking, it's very unpleasant and there are no speed reductions on the road, it's still 30mph.

"With there being pensioners bungalows on the street, you'd think it would be sorted by now, it's alright saying things like this cost money, but it's a matter of safety.

"There's going to be a serious crash, hopefully something will get done about it. I feel like screaming."

The Leader has previously reported on parking concerns across the town and councillors voted in favour of potential restrictions to make the roads safer.

Flintshire County Council has been approached for a comment.
