A HEADTEACHER is leaving her post after three years at the helm.

Bethan Cartwright notified Denbighshire County council that she was leaving her post a number of months ago. The local authority confirmed interviews have taken place.

Mrs Cartwright took over as headteacher in 2016. She was previously the deputy headteacher and an ex-pupil of the school. She was deputy head from 2010.

Originally from Llansannan, Mrs Cartwright attended Aberystwyth University where she graduated in mathematics and earned her post graduate teaching qualification.

Concerns have been raised by parents that a number of staff, in leadership roles, are leaving the St Asaph located school at the same time.

A spokesperson from Denbighshire County Council said: “Bethan Cartwright announced she was leaving her post a number of months ago and interviews have now taken place.

“The deputy head is leaving for a new role and that job will be advertised shortly.

"One of the assistant heads has been promoted to a more senior role at another school. The other two assistant heads remain at Glan Clwyd School."
