A MUSEUM has been donated a model vintage car built during 800 hours of finger splintering work.

The 33-inch model 1907 Rolls Royce was made by the late Lee Jones, former British Aerospace worker from Mold, out of beech, teak and oakwood which he had carefully shaped during the project in 1987.

It includes a front radiator sent by the former Rolls Royce factory in Crewe, silver AA badge, like-size engine and green leather seats.

Melanie Jones, daughter-in-law, donated the model in memory of Mr Jones after she visited the Cae Dai 50s Museum, Denbigh and was “very impressed” by its displays.

The 50s museum exhibits cars such as a Morris Minor and Cadillac, china and crockery, radios and toys, mostly dated to the decade and earlier.

Mrs Jones said: “I visited the museum with my late husband and we thought it would be nice for the model to be exhibited there.

“Hopefully more people will see it now.”

Sparrow Harrison, museum owner, was thrilled at the “amazing detail” of the model and thanked Mrs Jones for the “very generous donation”.
