YOUNGSTERS on Anglesey have been taking top tips from Premier League standard coaches this week, thanks to a soccer camp organised by Everton Football Club.

The classes, taking place Tuesday to Friday, have been set up on the Ysgol Gynradd Amlwch Primary School field.

Children aged between three and 12 years old from all over the island have been taking part in a range of activities.

At the end of each camp, each child receives a medal and a certificate.

Coach Andy Whittaker said: "It's been a brilliant turnout to think that this is the first tournament we've ever held on Anglesey.

"The set up here at the primary school is great as it's provided a lot of space and the weather has been perfect so far as well.

"We've had children working on shooting, passing and possession and they've all then shown us what they can do in these mini-tournaments we have at the end.

"It's been really successful and we're now looking at setting up some summer dates."

Amlwch Town Juniors chairman Tony Fitzmaurice added: “Amlwch are currently the Best Juniors Grassroots Club in North Wales - we won that award at the FAW and McDonalds Grassroots Football Awards last year.

“We are constantly looking at ways to improve the club and give the children as many opportunities as possible.

“Entering a partnership with Everton Football Club will help the club grow further and help other kids with football and life skills.”

Parents were also left impressed by the coaches. Laura Williams, whose son Aaron attended two days full of sessions, said: "He loved every minute of the camp learning new skills and meeting new friends. They're hoping to return in the summer and Aaron is already excited for that. I have to say that the coaches were fantastic!"
