A 91-YEAR-OLD former shepherd suffered multiple fractures in a fall at his home, an inquest heard.
Idris Jones was on his way to bed when he fell on November 16 last year and the following day, when he was unresponsive, his son David called an ambulance.
On arrival at Wrexham Maelor Hospital he was found to have fractured his skull, collarbone and ribs. He was not fit enough for surgical intervention and died two days later.
Mr Jones, who was one of 13 children, had been living with his son at The Stores in Llandrillo, near Corwen, where the accident occurred. He had been suffering from dementia.
The cause of death was given as sepsis arising from the rib fractures.
Recording a conclusion of accidental death, Joanne Lees, assistant coroner for North Wales East and Central, said Mr Jones could have passed away at any time but his death had been precipitated by the fall.
