THE search is on for people interested in enjoying the great outdoors.

The Rhyl and St Asaph Angling Association is keen to get more people, and especially young people, interested in the sport of angling.

An introduction to fly fishing event is being held this Sunday, April 28 at the association's trout lake near Denbigh.

Tuition will be given by three qualified instructors and the event is open to all ages and all abilities.

The cost to non-members is £10, which will be refunded if they later decide to join the association.

The event will start at 10.30am and it will finish at around 3pm.

Following initial casting tuition, people will then be fly fishing for feisty rainbow trout in the spring-fed reservoir and one rainbow trout may be taken home.

Participants are asked to take along suitable clothing and lunch, but all of the fishing equipment is supplied.

The aim of the Rhyl and St Asaph Angling Association is to offer affordable and accessible game fishing in North Wales.

The association has 20 miles of bank fishing on the rivers Clwyd, Elwy and Aled for salmon, sea trout and wild brown trout, and access to 10 miles of the river Dee, which is one the top fisheries in Europe for grayling.

Interested parties must book prior to the event and for further information and directions, contact chief instructor David Gartside on 01745 824231 or by e-mailing northwalesrestrings@btinternet.com
