A POPULAR pub crawl that gives "real ale and cider fans" the chance to try some of the Vale of Clwyd's rural pubs has been cancelled.

The Route 76 Beer Festival, the one-day bus tour which takes hundreds of people to pubs across the region, was expected to be held for the 11th year running.

Last year, the crawl visited nine pubs, including the White Horse, Llandyrnog and the Golden Lion Inn, Llangynhafal.

However a number of pubs were unable to take part in this year's festival and organisers have decided to cancel it with the hope of returning next year.

A spokesperson for the Route 76 Beer Festival said: "Route 76 is not going ahead this year as four of the pubs involved last year were unable to take part during the week planned.

"We thank all our customers who have turned out over the years and we will come back stronger and better next year.

"We hope to see you all then."
