A drink-driver revved his car engine and with wheels spinning fled from police through a red light across a narrow bridge at Rhuddlan, a court heard on Monday.
Craig Robert Jones, 36, a builder, of Llys Colomen, Rhyl, was held when officers went to his home and found him trying to climb a fence, a district judge at Llandudno court was told.
He admitted dangerous driving and driving with a breath-alcohol count of 62. The legal limit is 35.
Judge Gwyn Jones jailed him for 26 weeks and imposed a 39 months ban with an extended test. He said the defendant drove at excessive speed on the road from Abergele to Rhuddlan, at night, then stopped so a police officer believed he would co-operate.
Jones had then accelerated away. There was a previous drink-driving conviction.
Judge Jones added to him: "You posed a significant risk to other road-users.”
Craig Hutchinson, defending, said there had been an incident in a pub and Jones made the foolish decision to drive home. He panicked when he saw police and was sorry.
