A MULTITUDE of musical talent will be on display at a Denbighshire charity concert.

Rhyl's Pavilion Theatre will play host to the National Association of Retired Police Officers centenary charity concert on Saturday, April 27.

The concert will get underway at 7.30pm and it will include Rhys Meirion, Eleri Woolford, Côr Meibion Colwyn, harpist Sian Llewelyn and Côr Cytgan Clwyd.

Compere for the evening will be Dilwyn Price.

Tenor Rhys Meirion has enjoyed international success in opera and recording, and national success in broadcasting.

After two years on the opera course at the Guild Hall of Music and Drama in London, he joined the English National Opera Jerwood Young Singers Programme and was subsequently a company principal before becoming a freelance performer.

His roles include Rodolfo in La Boheme, Pinkerton in Madam Butterfly, Alfredo in La Traviata, Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore, Nadir in The Pearl Fishers and Marcello in Leoncavallo’s La Boheme, among many others.

His concert highlights include the Karl Jenkins 70th birthday celebrations concert at the Carnegie Hall, in New York, a gala concert at the Royal Albert Hall with Bryn Terfel, his BBC Prom debut at the opening night of the BBC Proms, which was televised on BBC2, and a live BBC recording of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony conducted by Richard Hickox.

Rhys has an extensive catalogue of recording work, including a duet album with Bryn Terfel (Benedictus), which was nominated for a Classical Brit Award.

Côr Meibion Colwyn is proud of its long history, recognising that there has been a choir in its home village of Colwyn since the 1890s.

Welsh is its first language, however its rehearsals are held in Welsh and English.
