Body Beautiful Studio in Rhyl returns as reigning champions to Welsh Hair and Beauty awards at the Cardiff City Stadium

Body Beautiful Studio on Wellington Road has been named a finalist in the Welsh Hair and Beauty awards at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday, May 13 for its second consecutive year.

Last year, the business was the only finalist from Denbighshire at the competition and won 'Outstanding Business' for North Wales and Wales, as well as being named the best salon of all 100 of the competition's finalists.

Hair stylist Nicola Hall said: "Last year it was our first time there and we didn't really know what were getting ourselves into, but this year we're going there to win.

"We were still massively shocked to be named finalists for a second year though and are a little bit nervous.

"But this year there isn't a category for 'Outstanding Business', so we're going back to the awards - thanks to our wonderful clients - with an award that nobody can take away from us. We will always be the reigning champions in that category."

This year, the team - which also includes beauty stylists Jackie Lowry and founder Samantha Dyche - will face competition from Klee Hair and Nails in Prestatyn for Team of the Year and from Rejuva in Rhuddlan for Beauty Salon of the Year, with finalists from all over Denbighshire and Conwy in other categories.

Ms Hall added: "Sam started the business 19 years ago in a little room at the back of a bridal shop, and from there we've gone to our own salon and winning awards.

"The competition has categories for the best in Cardiff and the Best in Swansea, but no regional award for North Wales. I think it's great that other businesses are now also being recognised, but I have to wonder if anyone would have known about it if little Body Beautiful hadn't won last year.

"I'm so proud that we, and everybody else, are flying the flag for beauty salons in Rhyl and North Wales."
