ANN Jones has been reselected by the Labour Party as the candidate for the Vale of Clwyd at the next National Assembly election.

Welsh Labour revealed the reselection of 26 sitting constituency Assembly Members to contest the 2021 election.

She was elected to the new National Assembly for Wales in 1999.

Ms Jones has been re-elected on four occasions since then.

Prior to becoming an AM, she served as a town and county councillor and was Mayor of Rhyl in 1996-97.

Ms Jones, who is currently deputy presiding officer of the National Assembly for Wales, said: “I am delighted to have been reselected.

“Over my tenure I believe that I have been able to impress upon successive Welsh Governments the need to invest in our area to improve and raise standards.”

“I will continue to represent all constituents and I am looking forward to continuing to fly the flag for the Vale of Clwyd using my experience and passion for our area.”

Ken Skates has been reselected as the candidate for the Clwyd South constituency.
