In response to the devastation caused to Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe by Cyclone Idai the Rotary club of Rhyl organised a collection at Asda Superstore, Kinmel Bay.

The club is indebted to Asda, for making the collection possible at very short notice and wish to thank all their customers for contributing to the final total raised of £250.

This was forwarded to ShelterBox – the emergency relief organisation that has its roots in Rotary – earmarked for the Mozambique emergency relief.

Earlier in the week the club had donated £250 to ShelterBox as an initial response to the disaster. The total of £500 will pay for one ShelterBox which contains a variety of equipment such as specially designed large tents able to withstand extreme conditions, water purification and cooking equipment, groundsheets and blankets, selected according to specific needs.

The organisation also has trained rapid response teams, ready to travel to disaster areas. For more insight into the work of Shelterbox your readers can visit www.shelterbox.org.
