A MAN involved in a three-hour stand-off with police at Rhyl was on Tuesday refused bail after he admitted affray and causing a public nuisance.

Magistrates at Caernarfon heard Stefan Revatto, 26, of John Street, Rhyl, sat on a ledge during the weekend stand-off and threatened to jump.

Prosecutor Diane Williams said in 2010 he had climbed on a roof and caused significant disruption which led to a 15 months custodial term.

Revatto pleaded guilty to affray involving brandishing knives and threatening to kill police officers and himself in John Street on March 31. He also admitted causing a public nuisance when the road was closed for more than three hours, and £1,500 damage to a police car.

He was remanded in custody until he’s sentenced at Mold Crown Court on April 25.

A pre-sentence report was ordered.

The prosecutor said police had been called by Revatto’s partner after he sent a Facebook snap in which he held a knife to his neck. A “significant” number of police officers attended, and negotiators.

Revatto had been at his flat window, holding knives and threatening to self-harm.

He hurled items from the window and police cordoned off the street.

Revatto’s injuries were superficial. At one stage he had attempted to barricade himself in the flat with a sofa but was arrested.

Mrs Williams added that Revatto had “lengthy” previous convictions.

Defence solicitor Alex Fitzgerald sought bail. He said Revatto had been out drinking and there were events leading up to what happened. There had been “emotional hit-after-hit.”

Mr Fitzgerald said the rumpus happened on Mother’s Day and Revatto’s family had suffered the loss of their mother when they were young.

“He doesn’t want to go to prison immediately,” the solicitor added.

Court chairwoman Janet Owens told Revatto: "Our powers are insufficient to deal with this matter.”

Bail was refused.
