AN ABERGELE group stalwart has celebrated a very special milestone.
More than 17 members of the Abergele Women's Institute gathered at the Gwesty Glyndwr to celebrated the 90th birthday its eldest member and former president Vivienne Chettleburgh.
Mrs Chettleburgh has been a member of Abergele WI for many years and was the instigator, along with three previous members, in resurrect in the group in 2015 following a hiatus due to lack of officers.
Caryl Jones, secretary of Abergele WI, said: "Whilst Vivienne was both surprised and overwhelmed by the whole occasion, she reflected on how much she felt that the WI had changed, and improved over the years she had been involved.
"She was particularly pleased that after having to close, due to lack of members who were able to undertake the officer’s roles to keep such a group going, it had now re-formed, was gaining more membership and seemed to be going from strength to strength due to the enthusiasm of some of the younger ladies."
