STAFF and volunteers celebrated the near completion of a hospital’s redevelopment with an afternoon tea in a newly refurbished dining room.

The new tea bar, canteen and shop at Glan Clwyd Hospital opened its doors last month.

It is the final public area to be refurbished as part of an eight-year project to redevelop the hospital.

The reopened diner, which includes the hospital canteen, is located next to the central lifts. It also provides a new home for the Glan Clwyd Hospital League of Friends tea bar and shop.

Karl Berry, catering manager, said: "The redevelopment has allowed us to rethink how we provide a food service, and we’re now going to be looking at a way to develop a street-food menu for the hospital.

"It’ll be a good dining experience to sit and eat, away from their clinical areas and enjoy good quality food."

To mark the occasion, the redevelopment team welcomed workers from throughout the hospital. Departments were also invited to showcase how the refurbishment project has supported their work.
