A MAN was airlifted to hospital following a fall in Meliden.
Following the incident on the Graig Fawr Site of Scientific Interest at about 12pm on Friday, march 1, the person was airlifted to safety by a HM Coastguard rescue helicopter.before being taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital.
The incident was witnessed by former Prestatyn and Meliden mayor, cllr Gerry Frobisher.
Cllr Frobisher said: "The helicopter circled Meliden about five times before hovering over the mountain side.
"There were rescuers roped to the side of the mountain and another at the top holding a flare to show the direction of the wind and show the position of the casualty.
"A rescuer was winched down from the helicopter to the casualty who was being supported by one of the rescuers.
From the helicopter arriving to it leaving was about 15 minutes, and it all looked very professional."
A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: "We were called at about 12pm on Friday, March 1, after somebody witnessed a person falling at Graig Fawr in Meliden.
"Emergency services responded and located the man, who was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital."
