A Kinmel Bay woman has been banned from driving for 18 months when she was caught drink-driving shortly after hearing that another woman was pregnant by her boyfriend.

Magistrates in Llandudno heard that Jennifer Dalton, aged 30, and her partner had a row after she received a message informing her about the other woman.

“It became very heated and he became physically aggressive,” said defence solicitor Graham Parry.

Prosecutor James Neary said that police were tipped off about a possible drink-driver and they spotted the boyfriend’s car being driven without headlights in St Asaph Avenue, Kinmel Bay.

When stopped Dalton, of Aber Clwyd, Kinmel Bay, immediately told them: “I shouldn’t be driving. I don’t have a licence and I’ve been drinking.”

She was found to have 61 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.

Dalton admitted driving with excess, having no licence and no insurance, and was banned from driving for 18 months.

She was also fined £200 for drink-driving and £200 for having no insurance, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £30 surcharge.
