A BANGOR pub has re-opened to the public following an extensive makeover.

Mayor John Wynne Jones and Mayoress Elizabeth Jones were on hand to pull the first few pints at the new look Antelope Inn on February 15.

The pair were the guests of honour at the ribbon cutting ceremony and witnessed first hand the changes made to the building's interior.

Located right by the Menai Suspension Bridge, the refurbished Antelope Inn has now resumed serving its guests after undergoing an extensive two-week refurbishment. Following a significant investment from the Sizzling Pub and Grill chain its owned by, three new jobs have also been created.

"The re-opening of Antelope Inn is highly important to the local area," Mayor John Wynne Jones said.

"I'm impressed by the new look of the pub, I think it's fantastic. It's great to see money being invested into Bangor businesses too.

Staff at the pub, situated right by the Menai Suspension Bridge, say they are planning a host of fundraising events and activities in the upcoming months to raise money and awareness in support of Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospice.

Antelope general manager Jon Austin said: "We’re looking forward to continuing our charity support of Tŷ Gobaith Childrens Hospice. The hospice provides excellent care and a ‘home from home’ for young people with life limiting illnesses in the local community. We’ve got a number of fundraising activities lined up to help support them with their vital work."

Commenting on his pub's new look, Mr Austin added: "We’re so pleased at how brilliant the Antelope looks following the refurbishment, and we were thrilled to have the Mayor and Mayoress here cut the ceremonial ribbon for us.

"Bringing the new look Antelope to Bangor is really exciting for the whole team. We want to offer good food and good value for all our guests, and we’re thrilled to be providing the area with a new dining destination that does that in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

"We can’t wait to welcome back our regulars and the people of the Bangor to see what the new look Antelope Inn is all about."

Mr Austin added that he was also "excited" to open Antelope's new bookable function room which will be used for business meetings, parties and other private functions.
