FREEVIEW owners in Denbighshire may need to retune their TV equipment later this month to continue watching their favourite programmes.

The Moel y Parc transmitting station situated on the Clwydian Range near Caerwys is set to be updated as part of a major 2019-20 engineering programme by the UK Government to improve mobile broadband services.

The work will take place soon after midnight on Wednesday, February 27, during which Freeview channels will be off-air until 6am.

After the changes, some Freeview channels will move to new airwaves and any of the 79,000 homes in North Wales that receive their TV signal from the Moel y Parc transmitter and find they are missing channels will need to retune.

Services from smaller local relays may be subject to disruption until late afternoon, while satellite and cable TV will not be affected.

Freeview will be running an information campaign to prepare people for the change, including advertising and on-screen messages.

Retuning should be straightforward and some TV equipment will retune automatically. Some older aerials may need to be replaced to continue receiving all channels.

Viewers may be eligible for free in-home support, including aerial work if needed.

Anyone who needs advice, or who finds they are still missing services after retuning, can visit the Freeview website www.freeview.co.uk/tvchanges or contact the Freeview Advice Line free on 0808 100 0288.
