A DENBIGH husband and wife duo will take on one of theatre's most destructive couples in the bard's most infamous tragedy.

West End stars Sean Jones and Tracy Spencer-Jones will take on the roles of King and Lady Macbeth for Daniel Taylor Productions' 10 night run of the supernatural 'Scottish Play' in Liverpool's Epstein Theatre from Thursday, March 7.

The pair will reunite on stage after getting married while on tour in Willy Russell's smash hit musical Blood Brothers, where they first met as understudies in 1999.

For this latest production, they will be joined by former co-stars Daniel Taylor, who will produce and direct, and Warwick Evans who will star as King Duncan.

Daniel Taylor said: “Shakespeare’s most brilliant and bloody tale has been delighting audiences for over four hundred years. I’m thrilled to be working with such a talented cast and crew, many of whom are long-time stars of that other blockbuster of theatre, Blood Brothers.”

Set in the aftermath of a ruinous civil war in Scotland, this exciting new production of Macbeth explores the damaging psychological effects of war, betrayal and destructive political ambition by those who seek power for its own sake.

For his take on the iconic role, Mr Jones will bring about two decades worth of experience in the role of Mickey in both the West End and touring of Willy Russell's smash hit musical production. He has also been a constant presence for the past seven years at the Rhyl Pavilion's annual Christmas pantomime - where he was joined on on stage by daughter Elinor in 2016's Peter Pan.

No stranger to the tragedy, Mr Jones - who trained at Clywd Youth Theatre in Mold and Guildhall School of Music and Drama - makes a return to the king's Inverness castle after having previously played both Macduff and Banquo in a previous Japanese national tour.

Ms Spencer-Jones, originally of Liverpool, chairs the Denbigh Workshop, a performing arts school and charity for young people and starred for 10 minutes in an episode of Coronation Street last October, where she played Dr Warwick in a two hander scene with actor James Burrows.

Ms Spencer-Jones has previously appeared on the show as the doctor that delivered Sarah Platt's baby, as well as fellow ITV soap Emmerdale and 2016 series Houdini & Doyle.

Tickets for Macbeth at the Epstein Theatre start at £16, and are available from epsteinliverpool.co.uk.
