ONE of the most distinguished quartets of a generation will bring a classical musical festival into its home stretch.

Taking to the Rhyl Town Hall stage on Wednesday, February 20 the returning Piatti String Quartet will place the first of the final three concerts of Rhyl Music Club's International Concert Series 2018/19.

Prizewinners at the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, violinists Michael Trainor and Nathaniel Anderson- Frank alongside Tetsuumi Nagata on viola and cellist Jessie Ann Richardson.

The have also performed in all the major venues and festivals around the country as well as concerts throughout the world, with national broadcasts in Australia, in Ireland and France.

The Piattis appeared twice at the 2018 Aldeburgh Festival, so their profile has increased dramatically since they were last in Rhyl just a few seasons ago.

David Birch, chairman of the music club said: "The quartet are favourites of Rhyl, audience feedback always puts them right at the top of the list for a repeat visit.

"It's fantastic to be able to keep welcoming back artists of this calibre to Rhyl."

The evening's programme programme will includes Bridge's Three Idylls, Mendelssohn's Quartet in F Minor, Op.80,d Beethoven's ‘Razumovsky’ and more.
