THE wheels on Arriva’s buses in Wales and the North West went around and around for almost half the distance to the Sun.

The company claims its services covered 44 million miles in 2018, the distance from the Earth to the Sun is 93 million miles. It also stated its buses carried nine million passengers.

In addition the company provided more than 40,000 hours of railway replacement bus services January and December, and helped to keep communities such as Chester, Wrexham, Rhyl, Llandudno, Bangor, Anglesey connected throughout the year.

Arriva Buses regional managing director Phil Stone said: “It’s extremely promising to see the number of people travelling by bus every month, something which we hope to see increase to help contribute to reducing carbon emissions and road congestion.”

In addition to transporting people across the North West & Wales, Arriva also donated to a range of charities including Zoe’s Place, where drivers raised a total of £24,000 alone through a charity golf fundraising match that took place in June 2017.

Phil added: “We look forward to another successful year and hope we can continue connecting communities and show our support to even more causes.”
