SIX Reds fans have been given lengthy bans by the club after an investigation into alleged discriminatory behaviour at a game.

After an investigation in to incidents that took place during the match between Wrexham AFC and Dover Athletic on Saturday, January 5 the club has confirmed they have banned half-a-dozen supporters from attending the Racecourse Ground.

Four spectators have been handed five year banning orders, one spectator has received a three year banning order and another received a one year banning order.

A Wrexham AFC spokesman said: "These banning orders have been issued for various offences which contravene the terms of entry to our stadium.

"The banning orders issued not only exclude these individuals from Wrexham AFC home matches, but from all stadium events held at the Racecourse Ground along with club away travel and priority booking for away games.

"We believe these banning orders are commensurate with the values of Wrexham AFC and its supporters who will not tolerate any form of discriminatory or anti-social behaviour.

"The overwhelming majority of spectators who attend our stadium create a fantastic atmosphere at the Racecourse which is attracting more and more people to our supporter base.

"We cannot allow a tiny number of individuals spoil that for everyone else.

"Wrexham AFC and it’s staff will not be making any further comment on this matter as the banning orders are subject to an appeal process."

The bans and investigation have come in the wake of two incidents of alleged discriminatory behaviour reported to the club, police and match officials surrounding an incident close to the dugouts shortly after Dover scored their winner in the 1-0 away victory. Another centred on the Dover substitutes warming up at the side of the pitch earlier in the game.

The club offered apologies to the players involved and all the officials, staff and supporters of Dover Athletic.

North Wales Police are also carrying out their own investigation into reports about unacceptable behaviour of certain individuals at the Dover game and other games this season, home and away.
