THE Secretary of State for Defence paid a visit to St Asaph.

Gavin Williamson attended a dinner held by the Vale of Clwyd Conservatives Association (VOCCA). The event was hosted at the Oriel Hotel.

Cllr Gareth Lloyd Davies, town and county councillor, said: "In Gavin's address to members, friends and guests he mentioned his life before Parliament where he ran a pottery business in Staffordshire. He then went on to speak about his career in Westminster, being Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to then prime minister David Cameron and talked about the work he carries out as defence secretary.

"Gavin also commented on what a beautiful area we live in here in the Vale of Clwyd.

"He was happy to talk about Qioptiq and businesses on the park and that he's trying to arrange a visit to the Qioptiq site in the future.

"He was also very complimentary of the area and the potential it has to create long term, sustainable jobs that the local economy can thrive off and sees the St Asaph Business Park as the perfect springboard for this to become more of the case in the future."
