LITTLE ones raised more than £1000 for a hospice that helps seriously and terminally ill children.

Daisy Chains nursery in Prestatyn carried out a fundraising raffle. Presents were donated by businesses, parents and individuals and a ‘live’ raffle was carried out on Facebook.

A cheque for £1044 was presented to Claire House Children’s Hospice last week. A representative from the hospice attended as well as mascot ‘Claire Bear’ who came to meet the children.

£1044 was raised by the nursery

Rebecca Wright, director of Daisy Chains Childcare in Prestatyn, said: “It was different for us to raise money for the hospice. We have raised money for Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) for many years. We chose Claire House due to personal reasons.

“We had a tour round Claire House and it was both emotional and inspiring. It is an amazing place. It was myself, Nia Roberts, Kelly Parry and my mum, who is also my business partner, Mary Louise Caldwell

“It was a beautiful experience and so nice to see what we were raising money for and to raise awareness; they have a Butterfly bedroom which gives the chance for families to say goodbye.

“Everybody was so grateful to see the work they do, they gave the fundraising that extra push.”

The nursery had about 70 presents donated.

Claire House has two children’s hospices, one on the Wirral and one in Liverpool.
