A CHEESE company has started 2019 with celebrations after securing the "best in uk" title for one of its flagship products for a fourth time.

Snowdonia Cheese Company, whose head office is in St Asaph and production in Rhyl, secured the top spot for their Black Bomber extra mature Cheddar in the Guild of Fine Food's prestigious Best Brands survey.

Results are compiled from hundreds of responses provided by the country’s leading delis, cheesemongers, farm shops and high-end foods halls.

John Newton-Jones, Snowdonia Cheese Company managing director, said: "We’re absolutely delighted to be voted number one cheese brand for the fourth time.

"We work hard to ensure our range of cheeses is crafted with care and expertise using the finest ingredients, so it’s a pleasure to have our products acknowledged by so many industry experts."

The accolade follows on from a successful 2018.

The firm were awarded a gold for Black Bomber and Silver for Red Storm, a vintage red Leicester with a nutty texture throughout, at the 2018 International Cheese Awards.

This is the fourth time in five years that the Welsh brand have won the coveted 'Best Brand' title.

The company has been creating its range of authentic and award-winning cheeses in distinctive coloured wax since 2001.
