Thirteen cannabis plants grown in a bedroom proved unlucky for a Rhyl man when they were discovered by police.
David Jones, 36, of West Kinmel Street pleaded guilty to growing the plants, which magistrates heard were to save him having to pay £20 a day to buy the drug.
Nia Dawson, defending, said at Llandudno court on Friday that he suffered from anxiety and depression and found that cannabis calmed him down.
He bought equipment to produce cannabis “openly on the internet”.
Jones was placed on a community order with 120 hours of unpaid work and must pay £170 costs.
