A physiotherapist at Glan Clwyd Hospital fought back tears when she was banned from the road for drink driving.

Georgina Mudge, aged 51, of Llandegfan in Anglesey was disqualified for 16 months and fined £575 with £142 costs.

She pleaded guilty at Caernarfon court and her solicitor Wyn Jones said she would face gross misconduct proceedings in connection with her work.

She had not believed she had been over the limit after attending a private party at Chester on December 13, otherwise she wouldn't have been behind the wheel.

He said the mother-of-two “is grateful no accident was caused”.

She had seen trauma patients after accidents caused by drink and was aware of such consequences.

Prosecuting, Diane Williams said an off duty police officer had alerted colleagues after seeing a C-class Mercedes being driven “all over the road” on the A55 at Llanfairfechan, Conwy.

She had a breath reading of 58, the limit being 35.
