Llanelwy WI

LLANELWY WI held its Christmas party on December 4 and it was a great success.

The evening was full of fun, laughter, mince pies and mulled wine.

Lisa Harrington organised the games and a raffle, while Julie Murray provided a Christmas quiz, which certainly got the old brain cells working!

There was a selection of Christmas carols and songs performed by the singing club, led by Heulwen Davis and expertly accompanied on the piano by Judith Isherwood.

The evening ended with the Llanelwy WI president Denise D’Albertson thanking the members and visitors for going along and making the evening so memorable.

The following week saw the Christmas dinner being held at the Bod Erw, which was a very enjoyable and lovely evening, and well supported by the members.

Craft club leader Helen Wyglendacz and Maria Hemmersley presented Alan Jones, of the Llanelwy Community Church, with hand knitted hats and scarves for the homeless.

These were gratefully accepted and have since been distributed to the homeless in Denbigh.

The WI is now looking forward to the 2019 programme, which has a wide variety of topics to cover all interests.

In addition to the monthly meetings, there are also four clubs and social events which are run throughout the year.

The next meeting will be held at St Asaph Cricket Club on January 8 at 7.30pm where new members and visitors can be guaranteed a warm welcome.

Anyone interested in joining can just turn up on the night or email llanelwywi@gmail.com for further information.
