A DISABILITY Resource Centre say they are "amazed" by the response to their "clear out your cupboards for Christmas" campaign.

The centre, based in Bodelwyddan, sent out an appeal asking people to donate any non-perishable food items they have at home (but will not be using) to them.

Now, they are set to donate these items to local homeless charities.

The Disability Resource Centre's promotions & outreach co-ordinator, Annette Lees, said: "The response we have had too the campaign is amazing.

"The amount of food and toiletries which we collected went well beyond the amount collected last year."

Collection boxes were set up all over the region from Mochdre to Llandudno and Llanrwst to Colwyn Bay in order to gather as many donations as possible.

"This week we went and picked up the boxes and went through them to make sure all items were in date we found very few to be out of date," Annette added.

"By clearing out your cupboards people are donating to charity and reducing food waste so it’s a win win situation.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved."

All donations were delivered to Hope Restored in Llandudno for distribution to the homeless community and people in need in the North Wales Areas.
