A KITE-surfer was reunited with his equipment after getting into difficulty in waters off Rhyl beach.

Rhyl Lifeboat were paged at 1.30pm on Thursday after the coastguard, at Holyhead, received calls relating to a kite surfer struggling.

The lifeboat was launched and were on scene within three minutes.

The kite surfer was found in the shallows, having self-recovered to the beach. The coastguard team took the surfer back to the lifeboat station to be reunited with his kite which the lifeboat crew had recovered.

Paul Frost, duty coxswain, said: "The kite surfer did everything right to return to shore, and his fellow surfers on the promenade raised the alarm early to ensure a safe outcome".
