AS ANOTHER year draws to a close, Christmas gives us precious time to spend with family and friends and the chance to reflect on events of the past 12 months.

Nationally, we enter into 2019 facing uncertain times, but we can hope the new year sees a healing of divisions and the chance for us to come together for the common good.

Locally, this year has been one of great change. New developments continue to spring up around us as the regeneration of our town continues. Rhyl is coming on in leaps and bounds but, as with all things, transformation requires patience, determination, and unity.

As we celebrate Christmas, I would like to take a moment to thank all who work so tirelessly to support our town and the people in it. Volunteers, community groups, residents and businesses all play a part in making Rhyl so very special.

This year has been difficult and challenging for some people, and they remain firmly in our thoughts. Rhyl’s sense of community is one of its strengths, so it is important we continue to look out for each other, throughout the festive period and beyond

I would also like to pay tribute to the armed forces, the emergency services, and the volunteer organisations who will be looking after us over the festive period. Many will spend Christmas away from loved ones, and I am grateful for the sacrifices they make to keep us safe and well.

Finally, on behalf of us all at Rhyl Town Council, I would like to wish you and yours a happy and healthy Christmas and all the very best for 2019.

Cllr Win Mullen-James

Mayor of Rhyl
