The shop window of a bike store in Welshpool was smashed in an "attempted burglary" on Thursday evening.

The incident took place at Brooks Cycles on Severn Street at around 9.15pm on Thursday, December 13.

Six strikes were made at the window but it remained in tact and nothing was stolen.

Shop owner Tony Brookes said he was walking by the shop 10 minutes before the incident happened.

Tony's first reaction when he saw the damage to the window, at around 9am on Friday morning, was "oh damn".

However, Tony doesn't believe someone was attempting to steal anything from the property. He thinks, from looking at the shop's CCTV, that a teenager on a bike went past and smashed in the window.

"It's just kids. I'm glad it's not someone come from far away to break in," he said.

A statement from police said:
