AN YSGOL y Llys pupil has donated his own duvet to help keep the homeless warm this winter.

Mason Perris, aged 7 of Prestatyn, has surprised his family with his generosity.

Mason's grandmother Bernadine Barnett said: "After his mummy bought him a nice new warm duvet, Mason asked if he could give his old one to the homeless to keep them warm. We're not sure where he got the idea from and he's never done anything like this before - we were very surprised."

Following the request, Mason and mum Claire Perris headed to the Dewi Sant Centre, on Clwyd Street, Rhyl, where he spoke with organisers and left with a new plan.

Mason is now busy creating care packages with toiletries, socks and gloves donated by friends and family for rough sleepers.

He also hopes to lend a hand at a community Christmas dinner for the socially isolated at the Astrobowl on Ffrith beach on Saturday, December 22.

Bernadine added: "We're all very proud of my thoughtful little grandson for thinking of the less fortunate at Christmas time."
