A PERSON has died after being struck by a train near Abergele.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit this morning at about 10am.
British Transport Police and the Welsh Air Ambulance service were in attendance at Abergele & Pensarn railway station.
A spokesperson for the British transport Police said: “Shortly after 10am today, officers were called to Abergele station after reports a person was struck by a train.
“Paramedics also attended however the person has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
“This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Disruptions are expected until 12pm, with customer advice from National Rail warning that trains could be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled.
A replacement bus service is in operation at Llandudno Junction and Rhyl, expected to arrive on both sites at 11.45am.
