TWO daughters have paid tribute to their "amazing" mum who died following a short battle with lung cancer.

Family and friends turned out for the funeral of Sheila Scott, 62, on Monday (November 19) which was held at St Asaph Crematorium.

Sheila, of Kinmel Bay, died on November 5. She was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in July 2018.

Daughters Lyndsey and Melanie have been supported by kind friends Janine Foden, Rebecca Whitehead, Jeanette Roberts, Christine Howarth and Nisha Hampshire-Jones, who grouped together to arrange fundraising events to raise money for Sheila and her family.

In a joint statement, Lyndsey and Melanie said: “We would like to express our overwhelmingly gratitude for all the support we have received since our mother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. She was an amazing mother and nanna, touching all the hearts of who knew her.

“Both of us and grandchildren would like to say a thank you to Janine, Rebecca, Nisha, Claire Metcalfe and Jeannette who gave huge support after the diagnosis was made public with donations to help our family make lasting memories.”

A successful ladies night in Towyn - arranged before Sheila died - was held on November 10.

The daughters added: “We would like to give a special thank you to all the hard working hospital staff who cared for our mum.”

Janine said: “The girls did their mum proud at the funeral.

“The ladies night was absolutely amazing. My mum attended who is in her 70s and there was two other old ladies who asked when we were doing the next one which made us giggle. How successful it was speaks volumes.

“All the fundraising has been worth it. It has been mind-blowing how it took off. Becky has been the main one with the ideas.

“Sheila was a really strong, witty lady who was just to the point really. She was a fantastic mum to her children and fantastic nan, she stayed in good spirits. She was brave.”
