CHILDREN around Wrexham have been raising money for Children in Need.

Following on from the charity’s rickshaw challenge on Thursday, children from various schools around the county have been dressing up, colouring in and doing all manner of other things in the name of Pudsey bear.

Children at Gwersyllt Community Primary School took part in a bake sale and wore bright clothes on the day.

Thanks to their efforts over £400 was raised, with the children enjoying what was a successful day.

At Acton Park Primary School the infants and juniors held a ‘bring and buy’ sale, where they brought in an item to sell.

Staff at the school said the children had a great time and a fantastic day was had by all. In all the day raised over £260.

Juniors and infants at Borras Park Primary School had events going on, with the year 5’s organising stalls for the juniors.

The juniors then did the same for the infants, with stalls featuring activities such as colouring in and finding marbles.

The children got into the spirit of Children in Need as well by dressing as the mascot, with various outfits and headbands.

To top it all off, children filled in a Pudsey outline with coins, of which will be donated to charity, but the final amount raised is still being counted.

Head teacher Rob Nicholson said: “Everyone enjoyed the day and everyone was involved, even the staff dressed up.

“I really appreciate the contribution from parents. It’s an expensive time of year, with Christmas coming up and residentials, so I’m really proud of their contribution.”
