THE second phase of a housing development in Abergele is set to be brought forward.

Construction on the 156-unit site, marketed under the name Bron Y Castell, started in March on land previously ear-marked for an extension of the North Wales Business Park.

A total of 43 properties have been sold, prior to show homes being launched.

Due to the demand, Macbryde Homes said it intends to bring Phase Two at Bron Y Castell forward by six months.

Caryl Russell, Sales Manager at Macbryde Homes, said: "Whilst we were always conscious of the town’s growing population; the wealth of its established and nearby job opportunities; and its strong transport links for those who need to travel further afield, I don’t think we fully appreciated just how desperately needed these homes would be.

"To see such a significant percentage of a development sold so quickly and before the show homes are launched, further highlights this need."

Show homes for the development will launched in January 2019.

Caryl added: "We’re delighted to now be in a position to hopefully bring forward phase two at Bron Y Castell and to welcoming many more new homeowners to this exciting development.”

Homes on the site include two-bedroom mews style homes, three-bedroom and four-bedroom detached homes.

Planning permission for the homes plan was granted in 2017.

North Wales Business Park was never fully finished. Facilities, including a medical centre and pharmacy, were created but land remained.

As a result, site owners placed an application with Conwy County Borough Council to free the land for residential use. It was later identified as an allocated housing site in Conwy's 2013 Local Development Plan and this allocation was taken forward by Macbryde Homes in 2016 when they submitted detailed plans for the development of the site.
