EQUIPMENT to help people who have had laryngectomy operations has been presented to Glan Clwyd hospital.
The presentation was arranged by Peter Holloway, chairman of the Rhyl branch of the Glan Clwyd Laryngectomy club. The funds for the equipment were raised by Mrs Beryl Greer, from a concert she arranged at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, in memory of her husband Alan who was a member of the club before his death.
The equipment included four Trutone voice electro larynx machines, six nebulisers and four boogie boards. It will be used by people who have recently undergone laryngectomy operations and cannot yet speak, to help them communicate. In total this equipment is worth £1,700. It was presented by Mrs Barbara Sawyer, whose husband is a member of the club, as Mrs Greer was unable to attend. It was received on behalf of the hospital by Mr Abou Samra a consultant surgeon.
On the same occasion two first responders bags, worth more than £300, were presented by the club to the Rhyl First responders.
