More than 100 motorcyclists donned their finest Sunday dress for a 60-mile ride down the coast.

Joining bikers in 650 locations across the world, 102 riders gathered at the Rhyl Pavilion car park with vintage bikes, moustaches and 1950s after-dinner wear for the annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride for prostate cancer and suicide awareness.

Raising £11,342, this year’s three-and-half-hour ride almost tripled last year’s total, with an average of £106 raised, more per rider than Wales’ only other events in Pembrokeshire and Cardiff.

Andrew Wood, of co-organisers Wood’s Motorcycles in Abergele, who rode a 1971 Moto Guzzi Falcone 500cc, said: “We even had an 80-year-old man and his friend ride all the way from Stockport on a Triumph Tiger Cub.”

More that 20 pillion passengers join the riders, who were blessed with warm weather.

The trip down involved stops on Pensarn beach and Porth Eirias in Colwyn Bay, arriving in Llandudno at 2.30pm.

Participants were joined at the finish by mayor and mayoress David and Amanda Hawkins.
