Rhyl’s newest pub-restaurant has opened its doors.

The Sun Verge, on East Parade near Rhyl’s Pavilion Theatre, welcomed its first visitors on Monday, September 24.

The new pub manager is Gareth Murphy.

The Journal was invited for a ‘first look’ around the building on Friday.

Mr Murphy said: “We can’t wait to have our team on board. We can’t wait to get started and show off our new pub.

“We believe it will be a social spot for the community.

“We welcome everybody to come and raise a glass to our opening.”

The pub is part of an ongoing new build programme from Marston’s Inn and Taverns.

The venue, which caters for 150 customers, offers a carvery station as well as a selection of classic pub meals and a children’s menu.

The pub held preview nights over the weekend.

The name has been chosen to continue the legacy of the former Sun Centre and ties in with the new waterpark – SC2 - being built as part of the £25 million waterfront redevelopment.

There was also a dwelling house in the area named Tŷ’n yr haul, meaning ‘House in the sun’, so the name of The Sun Verge has multiple connections to Rhyl.

The waterfront regeneration scheme includes a 73-bed Travelodge hotel. The hotel is being built by Wynne Construction, on the site of the East Parade car park, near the former Sun Centre.
