Llandudno RNLI inshore lifeboat were called out yesterday (Saturday) to search for a broken down speedboat before beginning a display for the Honda Goldwingers.

Llandudno's Inshore Lifeboat was brought to the north shore promenade with 'Stormy Stan' in attendance to support the Honda Goldwingers who were assembling prior to their evening 'Light Parade'.

As the lifeboat crew were about to prepare the boat for a launch and short display followed by a routine training exercise, information was received that a small speedboat might have been in difficulty somewhere in Llandudno Bay.

The speedboat was believed to have broken down and last seen being paddled towards Colwyn Bay. Following consultation with HM Coastguard, the Inshore Lifeboat headed for the Little Orme area and commenced a search.

They were then informed that the speedboat had in fact made its way to the beach at Craig-y-Don.

The Inshore Lifeboat made for this latest position and, finding the four people on board but not able to start their engine, towed it to Llandudno's north shore slipway where it was handed into the care of the Llandudno Coastguard team who assisted with its recovery.

The Inshore Lifeboat was able to complete its short display for the watching crowd before being recovered and made ready for service.
