RESIDENTS of Towyn and Kinmel Bay are being encouraged to have their say on the future development of their towns.

Towyn and Kinmel Bay Town Council will and roll out its Community Place Plan public consultation next month with a drop in session.

The scheme is a Welsh Government initiative, ran through Conwy County Borough Council, that encourages input from residents in directing a community led planning agenda over the course of several years.

Dylan Thomas, the clerk of Towyn and Kinmel Bay, said: “The aim of the Place Plan is to create a board made up of residents, business leaders and members from organisations like churches to help steer ideas for the future development of Towyn and Kinmel Bay.

“For example, the town council may decide it wants to develop a play area for children in a certain location, but after consulting with the residents we might discover that there is another spot that would benefit the community more. The idea is to agree on a plan of action.

Conwy County Borough Council aims to roll out the Community Place Plan for all towns following Abergele as the first to adopt the programme as a pilot scheme in July 2015.

Mr Thomas added: “We want people to have their say so we can get a better feel of the priorities of the whole community and help residents model the community.”

The drop in launch session takes place at Kinmel Bay Community Resource Centre on Thursday, September 20 from 3pm until 8pm. Residents and businesses can also give suggestions via assistant@tkbtc.co.uk.
