A NOTICE asking people to "keep their shirts on" in a Rhyl store has been taken down less than 24 hours after it was put up.

Staff at the Aldi supermarket on Wellington Road in Rhyl posted a sign on the shop's entrance yesterday (Wednesday) requesting customers to remain fully clothed while shopping.

The sign read: "For hygiene reasons, we respectfully request that all customers keep their shirts on whilst in the store during the hot weather.

"Thank you for your co-operation - and enjoy the sun! The Aldi team."

However, the store has since walked back from the request.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “The sign was displayed following feedback from our customers but has now been removed.”

A regular Aldi shopper, who wishes to remain anonymous, responded: "I don't want to be shopping with my kids and have to see that. It's just not nice to look at.

"It's also unhygienic, there's open fruit and veg, the sweat could be going everywhere and the smell can be unsavoury as well.

"As for the staff, it's especially not nice for them to have people walking about topless in their working environment.

"I do think Aldi staff should have committed to the rule if they were willing to put the sign up, rather than doing it half heartedly."
