FIREFIGHTERS have thanked kind hearted members of the public for their ongoing support as they work to put out a massive wildfire in Llangollen.

Teams from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have been battling a mountainside blaze, which started in Llantysilio, since July 19.

A spokesman for the fire and rescue service confirmed this afternoon that five crews ate still in attendance at the site and the Horseshoe Pass remains closed for the moment.

Donations of food and drinks, as well as more than £1,000, have been given by members of the public in order to keep the crews stocked with refreshments and snacks.

A spokesman for the fire and rescue service added: "Thanks again to all those who have supported our firefighters whilst we attend this incident."
