IT seems that everybody is yelling for yellow!

Geraint Thomas is all set to become the first Welshman to win the Tour de France today.

To mark this epic feat, Cadw castles have been lit in bright yellow as Thomas secures the Yellow Jersey.

Among the castles to be lit up is Conwy, with Caernarfon, Harlech and Criccieth among the others partaking in the venture.

After yesterday's stage, which effectively confirmed Thomas as the Tour winner, Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns MP said: “I’m delighted to be able to congratulate Geraint Thomas on keeping hold of the yellow jersey today.

"His grit and determination over the last few weeks demonstrates how much he wants to win this epic race.

"He is an inspirational role model for future generations and is on the brink of cementing his status as one of the greatest Welsh athletes of all time.

"I’m sure every member of Team Sky will be ecstatic for him, and I congratulate them all, including fellow Welshmen, general manager Sir Dave Brailsford and team-mate Luke Rowe, on their instrumental efforts over the last few weeks.

"Geraint is a brilliant ambassador for the sport, for Wales and thoroughly deserves his place in history – llongyfarchiadau mawr.”
