The congregation of a Prestatyn church will be celebrating the unifying force of the beautiful game this Sunday.
To commemorate the start of the World Cup and to mark Fathers’ Day, Alive Church, Prestatyn is throwing open its doors for a special family service entitled ‘Faith, Family, Football’.
The congregation is being invited to mark the tournament – which kicks off with a match between hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia tomorrow at 4pm – by swapping their Sunday best for their club or country’s colours to church.
Phil Pierce, a member of the church core team, said: “Football mirrors life with its ups and downs As the World Cup starts, we want to acknowledge the unity it can bring while celebrating God’s love and having a good time too.”
All are welcome to the service, including ‘footie-phobics’ and regular members of the congregation.
It will take place at 10.30am. For more information, contact the church core team hello@alive-church.co.uk
