The jury considering the case of Rhyl man Redvers James Bickley, 21, has been sent home for the evening.
They retired for three-quarters of an hour this afternoon at Mold Crown Court.
He is accused of murdering his housemate Tyler Denton, who he admits stabbing to death in September of last year.
But he denies her murder and the attempted murder of her two sisters Cody and Shannen, and their father Paul Denton who went to their aid.
Bickley says his alter ego James was responsible.
The prosecution say he was a fantastist, obsessed by Tyler, knew what he was doing when he dressed in black, got a flick knife, and growled and grunted as he carried out the attack at Llys Aderyn Du in the resort.
The defence called him a homicidal manic and said his responsibility was diminished by an abnormality of mind.
