RHYL Journal's mum of the year 2018 was rewarded for her kind-hearted efforts during an exciting day out.

Stephanie Bennett, 45, is one of a number of foster carers in North Wales who is trained to foster children with life-limiting conditions.

She has fostered 20 children over the last 14 years and for the last three years, has fostered children with life-limiting conditions.

Last Friday, Stephanie was treated to a VIP day out courtesy of the Journal’s generous advertisers. Food was supplied by Table Table, who are currently running a mum eats free offer (t&c applies) - and also Morrisons Rhyl and Chlotique Beauty Salon Rhyl have donated vouchers.

Stephanie, of Kinmel Bay, was nominated by her daughter Sophie, 22.

"When I told my mum she had won, she was so overwhelmed and pleased," Sophie said.

"My mum is amazing - she is always offering to help wherever she can.

"I think my mum is amazing because she makes all these children, who already have challenges in life, feel loved and part of a family."

Sophie, who has two children Willow and Teddy - aged two and six-months - has an adoptive brother Ivan who is seven years old. Ivan has cerebral palsy and epilepsy and is registered blind. He was recently granted his 'wish' and was able to holiday in Disneyland Paris thanks to charity Make-A-Wish.

Tanya Goodwin, telesales executive at the Journal who chose the winner, said: "She was a lovely lady and we had a wonderful day out. She really deserved it."
